Private Guitar Students |
Absolute Beginners
Beginning students adance quickly and can learn to play the instrument fairly well in just 12 lessons. Combining private lessons with group lessons has the added benefit of providing the student with other students with whom then can test out concepts and have fun. At this level we cover:
- Basic info about the guitar
- How to Tune the Guitar
- Note Reading - Notes on the 1st thru 5th Frets
- Chord Playing - Basic Open String Chords
- Finger picking - Folk, Carter and Country Style Techniques
- Music Theory - Note reading, Rhythm, Dynamics
- Applying what’s learned to playing songs
- Right hand and left hand techniques
- Band/ensemble accompaniment
Intermediate Students We begin to address topics that are of interest to student who have prior experience with the guitar and graduates of the beginner classes. I'll evaluate each student and place you at the proper level instruction level. At this level we focus on: Musical structure and Song Form using Rock, Blues or Jazz Note Reading - Movable Chords
Upper position studies - Frets 5 through 12 Continuing Music Theory Music Improvisation Ear Training - Playing notes and chords by ear Major, Minor, Dominant and Pentatonic Scales Expanding right hand and left hand techniques Applying what’s learned to playing songs Band/ensemble accompaniment
